IASPD 16 - Economic, social and cultural: a review of results in the Americas
The Additional Protocol to the American Convention on Human Rights on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights "Protocol of San Salvador" is the legal instrument of the Inter-American System of Human Rights, which establishes the obligations of countries in the Americas related to compliance economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR). It was approved in 1988 and entered into force in 1999 with 19 signatory states and 16 ratifications to date.
Some of the results on the completion of the first round of national reports for the first group of rights (social security, education, health) are presented, as we believe we are talking about a historic moment for the DESC and the system of indicators progress.
